Storm Ciara strikes Ilkley Cricket Club on Sunday 9th February

Regretfully the storm caught us, leaving two feet of water on our outfield and damaging our new outdoor nets just three days after their completion. We had one foot of water in our tackle shed and even though our flood defences were fitted to the clubhouse the water still managed to seep into every room and destroy our carpets.

We are a little unique at Ilkley Cricket Club where we have decent members who love the club, we don’t pay players instead. We have the best equipment and we can make a call for volunteers and our ICC members respond.

We had 18 members including the President, the Chairman and the Secretary all mucking in to remove over 10 tons of the gravel that had been eroded from the car park and left all over the playing area. They stripped all the carpets and cleaned debris from the surrounding fences. Nothing is too much for “THE ICC” - the clean up continues.
